About the role

Provides optometric assessment and management of patients, delivering eye-care services and contributing to the effective running of the service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assess visual function.
• Diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions, and refer appropriately.
• Prescribe and oversee optical and therapeutic management within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate clinical records.

Required skills

• Knowledge of optometric assessment and clinical eye care appropriate to the role.
• Ability to diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions.Sound clinical record-keeping.Effective communication with patients and colleagues.Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of post-registration/post-internship experience in optometry practice. Newly registered practitioners may be considered.

Education

Doctor of Optometry (OD) from a recognised institution. Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
