Provides optometric assessment and management of patients, delivering eye-care services and contributing to the effective running of the service.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assess visual function.
Diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions, and refer appropriately.
Prescribe and oversee optical and therapeutic management within scope of practice.
Maintain accurate clinical records.
Requirements
Doctor of Optometry (OD) from a recognised institution. Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
Minimum of 1 year of post-registration/post-internship experience in the relevant profession; newly registered practitioners may be considered.
Clinical/technical competence appropriate to the role, exercised with appropriate supervision.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary hospital team.
Required skills:
Knowledge of optometric assessment and clinical eye care appropriate to the role.
Ability to diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions.
Sound clinical record-keeping.
Effective communication with patients and colleagues.
