Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Odoo Developer to design, develop, customise, integrate, and maintain Odoo ERP solutions for client and internal business requirements.
• The Odoo Developer will work closely with Functional Consultants, Project Managers, and business stakeholders to translate functional and business requirements into reliable technical solutions within the Odoo platform.
• The role requires strong knowledge of Odoo development, Python, PostgreSQL, XML, JavaScript, APIs, and the Odoo framework, with an emphasis on developing scalable and maintainable solutions while making appropriate use of Odoo's standard functionality.

Key Responsibilities

Odoo Development & Customisation

• Develop, customise, and maintain Odoo modules based on approved business and functional requirements.
• Configure and extend standard Odoo applications where required.
• Develop new Odoo modules and functionality where standard features do not meet business requirements.
• Modify and extend existing Odoo models, views, workflows, reports, and business logic.
• Develop automated actions, scheduled processes, and other backend functionality.
• Ensure custom developments follow Odoo development standards and best practices.
• Minimise unnecessary customisation by making effective use of Odoo's standard functionality.

Technical Development

• Develop solutions using Python, XML, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and PostgreSQL.
• Work with Odoo ORM, models, views, controllers, security rules, and workflows.
• Develop and maintain QWeb reports and templates.
• Troubleshoot application errors, performance issues, and technical defects.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, optimisation, and technical testing.
• Maintain clean, reusable, secure, and well-documented code.

Integration

• Design and develop integrations between Odoo and third-party systems.
• Develop and consume REST APIs and other integration interfaces.
• Support integration with payment platforms, websites, external applications, and other business systems where required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration and data synchronisation issues.

Data Migration

• Support data migration activities between legacy systems and Odoo.
• Develop scripts and processes for data import, transformation, and migration.
• Validate migrated data and assist with resolving migration-related issues.
• Work with Functional Consultants and client teams to ensure data is correctly mapped and imported.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Conduct unit and technical testing of developed functionality.
• Support Functional Consultants and Project Managers during system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Investigate and resolve defects identified during testing.
• Ensure developments meet agreed requirements and acceptance criteria before deployment.
• Support regression testing following system changes.

Deployment & Support

• Support deployment of Odoo developments across development, staging, UAT, and production environments.
• Investigate and resolve production issues.
• Provide technical support for implemented Odoo solutions.
• Monitor application performance and recommend improvements where appropriate.
• Support upgrades and migration between Odoo versions.

Documentation

• Produce and maintain technical documentation for custom developments and integrations.
• Document configuration, dependencies, APIs, deployment procedures, and technical solutions.
• Maintain clear technical records to support future maintenance and knowledge transfer.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Odoo Functional Consultants to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to provide technical estimates and delivery updates.
• Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, project planning, and technical discussions.
• Clearly communicate technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and issues.
• Provide technical guidance to junior developers and other team members where required.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of Odoo ERP development.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL.
• Experience with XML, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong understanding of the Odoo ORM and framework architecture.
• Experience developing and customising Odoo modules.
• Experience with Odoo views, models, security, workflows, and QWeb reporting.
• Experience developing and integrating APIs.
• Experience with Git and source-control practices.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of relational databases and data migration.
• Understanding of software development and deployment practices.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with multiple versions of Odoo.
• Experience with both Odoo Enterprise and Community Editions.
• Experience with Odoo.sh and/or self-hosted Odoo environments.
• Experience implementing or supporting Odoo applications such as CRM, Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, Manufacturing, HR, Projects, Website, and eCommerce.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Linux environments.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Previous experience working within an Odoo implementation partner or ERP consultancy environment.
