This position is accountable for:

  • Ensuring an efficient OH standard and outcome with the corresponding reduction in lost time from work.
  • Achieving 100% AMC compliance.
  • Achieving 100% JV sites audited on a yearly basis.
  • Monitoring the retainer specialists and clinics, ensuring cost-effective medical services in line with Company Cost-Control measures.
  • Maintaining a motivated and productive workforce in his / her area of responsibility.

HSE OBJECTIVE

  • Familiarizes self with COMPANY emergency procedures, carries-out assigned responsibilities safely and reports any incident, unsafe act, or operation.
  • Ensures personnel under his supervision are well trained and aware of their HSE responsibilities with continuous monitoring to check for compliance with Subsidiary / Company HSE objectives and mitigates adverse impact on health and well-being of Personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • MBBS Fellow, having the specialty in Occupational Health / Medicine
  • Competency in Industrial Hygiene with 3 to 5 years of working experience
  • Valid registration with the relevant professional bodies
  • Good knowledge / reference of the Oil &Gas Industry

Main Function To manage and coordinate Occupational Health activities across the JV, ensuring employees are medically fit for work, workplace health risks are identified and controlled, and effective preventive healthcare programmes are implemented. Oversee AMC activities conducted by contracted medical providers and ensure quality and compliance. Conduct occupational health risk assessments in collaboration with Industrial Hygiene teams. Identify and assess physical, psychological, ergonomic, and psychosocial health risks in the workplace. Recommend and implement appropriate preventive and control measures to protect employee health. Monitor workplace conditions, accommodation, sanitation, catering, food and water safety, and hygiene standards. Monitor pest control programmes, with particular focus on malaria vector control and appropriate chemical-use practices. Oversee medical waste management and ensure compliance with applicable standards. Implement preventive measures for healthcare workers exposed to blood-borne infections, including Hepatitis B vaccination and post-exposure management. Monitor and report epidemiological alerts and public health threats, including infectious disease outbreaks. Participate in health promotion initiatives, including Healthy Living Awareness Campaigns. Provide occupational health guidance and support to employees and management. Conduct annual audits and inspections of JV sites and retainer clinics. Monitor the quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of services provided by external medical facilities and specialists. Maintain effective relationships with retainer clinics, external specialists, regulatory bodies, and health authorities. Review and update the network of approved medical facilities and specialist services. Support cost optimization and quality improvement of outsourced medical services. Prepare accurate monthly and annual Occupational Health activity reports. Maintain appropriate records of AMC compliance, audits, referrals, sick-offs, health surveillance, and workplace health activities. Track Occupational Health performance against established objectives and KPIs. Provide recommendations to management on occupational health risks, trends, and improvement opportunities. Job Requirements MBBS with Fellowship/Specialization in Occupational Health or Occupational Medicine. 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in Occupational Health/Medicine. Competence and practical knowledge of Industrial Hygiene and workplace health risk assessment. Valid registration and practising licence with relevant professional bodies. Good knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health practices within the Oil & Gas industry. Knowledge of applicable Nigerian occupational health, medical, and HSE regulations.
