Nursing Officer (in-patient) - Benin At Dragnet Nigeria

About the role

• To deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care within in-patient nursing, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients within the stream.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate, complete and timely nursing records and apply infection-prevention and clinical-governance standards.
• Maintain valid NMCN registration/licence and MCPDP compliance, and comply with internal policies.
• Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team and support managed-care processes.
• Deliver bedside nursing care across the shift, including medication rounds, IV therapy and fluid-balance charting.
• Monitor vital signs and early-warning scores, escalating deteriorating patients promptly.
• Lead admission and discharge processes and participate in ISBAR shift handover.
• Apply pressure-area care and falls-prevention measures for admitted patients.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from an accredited School/College of Nursing, or a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc/BSc Nursing) from a recognised university.
• Completion of any required orientation/internship and NYSC (for degree holders), or a valid exemption where applicable.
• Minimum of 1 year of post-registration (NMCN) nursing experience; newly registered nurses may be considered.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting relevant to in-patient nursing.

Required skills:

• Knowledge of nursing practice relevant to in-patient nursing appropriate to the role.
• Competence in nursing assessment, care planning and safe medication administration.
• Understanding of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical governance.
• Accurate nursing record-keeping and competent use of clinical systems.
• Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.

Nice to have:

• Additional registrable nursing qualification (e.g., midwifery or a relevant specialty) is an advantage.
• Experience in a multi-specialty hospital, corporate hospital network, HMO-facing health system, public-sector hospital or large institutional healthcare environment.
