JOB PURPOSE: The Midwifery Activity Manager is a senior-level healthcare management role responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and improving maternal and reproductive health services across multiple health facilities and Local Government Areas (LGAs). The position seamlessly integrates clinical oversight, team leadership, program monitoring, and administrative and logistical management to ensure the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure that all midwives and MCH staff have standard job descriptions and perform their duties accordingly. Plan, organize, and ensure the implementation and supervision of maternal and child health interventions in all health facilities in respective LGAs based on national reproductive health policy guidelines. Participate in annual project planning and budgeting, and when needed, support the TMM and Medical Coordinator with new project proposals and strategic planning. Work closely with Medical Activity Managers to ensure that each health facility in target LGAs has maternal and reproductive health guidelines and protocols. Assist and collaborate with field doctors and nurses when required (normal or complicated deliveries, spontaneous vaginal deliveries, etc.) to complement existing human resources and contribute to the resolution of complicated cases and arrange timely referral to higher level health facilities. Ensure newborn babies are followed up correctly from delivery until discharge, and that all pregnant women and newborn children are referred to the Extended Program on Immunization (EPI). Plan and supervise associated HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, motivation, internal/external communication, etc.) in order to improve staff capabilities and ensure both the correct staffing size and required knowledge levels. Work closely with the Field Pharmacist to ensure the availability and distribution of drugs, proper use of materials, tracking of consumption patterns and supply orders, and monitoring of inventories together with the project logistician, while training midwives and maternity staff to maintain minimum stock levels and ensure the rational and appropriate use of material resources. Support the TMM and Medical Coordinator with health needs assessments and new project proposals ensuring that all MCH needs are considered. Conduct training needs assessments for all facility-based MCH staff and deliver training based on those assessments and resource availability. Supervise administrative procedures and documents and analyze routine data for monitoring purposes. Conduct monitoring visits to health facilities on a regular basis (at least once a week) to identify gaps and resolve them on a priority and timely basis, ensuring monitoring visit reports are shared with the TMM and Medical Coordinator promptly. Conduct monthly meetings with all MCH staff from all LGAs to provide everyone with a chance to share achievements and highlight challenges. Obtain monthly MCH data from each health facility, review and verify the data before sending it to the TMM and MEAL team. Review and verify all financial documents thoroughly and carefully before sending them to the TMM for approval. Education & Professional Requirements: Education: BSc/Diploma in Midwifery qualifications from a recognized and Government approved Institution. Register with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and License. Professional requirements: Two (2) years’ experience as midwife. Work with any humanitarian organization in the field of maternal and child health. Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet) Demonstrate experience with different donors’ compliance and reporting Personal requirements: Leadership, people management and development Teamwork and cooperation Strategic vision Service orientation Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards and best practices commitment to INTERSOS Principles Languages Proficiency in English (written and spoken) Knowledge and fluency in English and local languages (Hausa and Kanuri) will be an asset.
