To provide clinical care in family medicine under supervision, assessing and managing patients across outpatient and inpatient settings, and supporting the safe and effective running of the family medicine service.
Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose and manage patients in family medicine under supervision, appropriate to the level of the role, escalating appropriately.
Participate in clinics, ward rounds, on-call rotas and procedures as required.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.
Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other services and supporting managed-care/HMO processes through evidence-based, cost-effective practice.
Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution.
Completion of the required national housemanship/internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
Minimum of 2 years of post-NYSC clinical experience; newly qualified medical officers with a valid licence may be considered.
Post-registration clinical experience as a medical practitioner, including completion of housemanship.
Clinical exposure relevant to family medicine, with the ability to manage common presentations under supervision.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting relevant to family medicine.
Required skills:
Sound clinical knowledge relevant to family medicine and the ability to manage presentations appropriate to the role.
Sound clinical record-keeping and competent use of hospital clinical systems.
Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.
