We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist (Histopathology) to join our laboratory team.
The successful candidate will support accurate diagnosis through the preparation, processing, and analysis of tissue specimens while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, label, process, and maintain proper records of tissue specimens.
Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and routine/special staining.
Prepare high-quality microscope slides for histopathological examination.
Support immunohistochemistry procedures and other relevant diagnostic tests.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histopathology equipment.
Carry out internal quality-control procedures and participate in quality-assurance activities.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, infection-prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, inventory, and reagent records.
Work collaboratively with pathologists, laboratory colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
Provide initiatives & train lab interns.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related discipline.
Current practising licence with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Relevant experience in a histopathology laboratory is preferred.
Demonstrable competence in tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation.
Knowledge of histochemical and immunohistochemistry techniques is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Good record-keeping, communication, and time-management skills.
