About the Role
We are actively recruiting a highly skilled and safety-driven Mechanical Technician. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on both rotating and static mechanical equipment across our production facilities. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical engineering background, deep expertise in equipment overhaul and troubleshooting, and a relentless commitment to Asset Integrity and HSE excellence. You will play a pivotal role in maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing unplanned downtime, and supporting our Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs.
Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on rotating equipment (centrifugal/reciprocating pumps, gas/steam turbines, compressors, blowers, and diesel generators) and static equipment (heat exchangers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and piping systems).
Perform precision mechanical tasks including equipment dismantling, inspection, assembly, shaft alignment, vibration analysis, and bearing replacement.
Overhaul, repair, and test industrial valves (control valves, relief valves, gate/globe valves) and actuators.
Conduct routine maintenance on utility systems, including HVAC, compressed air systems, and water treatment pumps.
Troubleshooting, Diagnostics & Reliability:
Respond rapidly to mechanical breakdowns, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., vibration monitoring, thermography, oil analysis) to identify faults and implement permanent fixes.
Collaborate with the Reliability and Engineering teams to optimize equipment performance, recommend design modifications, and reduce mean time between failures (MTBF).
Monitor equipment condition and analyze trend data to predict failures before they occur, supporting the plant's predictive maintenance strategy.
HSE, Compliance & Work Management:
Strictly adhere to the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, ensuring zero harm to self, team, and the environment.
Actively participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Toolbox Talks prior to commencing any maintenance task.
Strictly enforce the Permit to Work (PTW) and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) systems, ensuring proper mechanical isolation and energy dissipation before work begins.
Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS- e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) to receive work orders, update job progress, log material usage, and document technical findings.
Requirements & Qualifications
Higher National Diploma (HND) or bachelor's degree (B.Sc./B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering, or a recognized National Trade Certificate (NTC/NVQ) in Mechanical Fitting/Machining.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, or heavy industrial sector.
Proven expertise in the overhaul, alignment, and troubleshooting of centrifugal pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
Strong understanding of API standards (e.g., API 610 for pumps, API 617 for compressors, API 686 for machinery installation).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM maintenance manuals.
Software Skills: Hands-on experience using CMMS (SAP Plant Maintenance, IBM Maximo, or similar) for work order management and inventory tracking.
Certifications: Valid HSE Level 1, 2, & 3 certifications. (BOSIET/HUET and Offshore Medicals are a strong advantage if site rotations are required).
Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment, and excellent cross-functional communication.
