Key Responsibilities Mechanical Technicians perform a variety of tasks to support the smooth operation of mechanical equipment, including:
Inspecting mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for repair or adjustment
Performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure machinery and building systems operate efficiently
Troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing parts for production, manufacturing, or industrial machinery
Reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and work orders to perform maintenance and service
Installing new mechanical systems and upgrading existing equipment i
Monitoring mechanical devices for performance issues and taking corrective action
Documenting maintenance and repair work, including type, cost, and outcomes
Collaborating with engineers and other technicians to solve complex mechanical problems
Ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining clean, organized work areas
Training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery.
Required Skills and Competencies Successful Mechanical Technicians typically possess:
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and sometimes electrical systems
Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as specialized diagnostic equipment
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Physical stamina and capability to lift heavy equipment and perform precision tasks
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and industry safety standards.
Salary N150,000 - N200,000 monthly.
