PRIMARY PURPOSE

  • This role as Camp Automotive Mechanic is to perform vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of the vehicles and provide mechanical repair and other responsibilities including but not limited to camp game vehicles, tractors, trailers, vehicle electrical systems, hydraulic, hydrostatic, small engine (PG) and large engine (DG) in addition to other mechanical works withing the camp, within time to time he will be assigned other tasks by the maintenance head and camp management

This position is based in Maasai Mara.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Provides proper servicing and maintenance of Company vehicles and equipment, including oil and air filter changes on gasoline and diesel engines, lubrication and fluid checks
  • To carry out vehicle and generators maintenance and troubleshooting of the heavy equipment in field and workshop both
  • To read technical manuals, schematics and auto electric control circuit diagrams
  • Assist in wiring of the control panels in the generators, air conditioning system and control circuits in the heavy equipment for hydraulic control valves, pumps, auto shift transmission, common rail diesel engines
  • Must familiar with the calibration procedure for fuel systems in tractors, Landcruiser, lorry
  • With the help of electronic service tool or computer reset the specification, find out the errors codes and solve
  • Diagnoses, examines, and investigates vehicles to determine causes of defective operation of engines, transmissions, differential units, generators, starters, pumps, air suspension systems, pneumatic systems, radiators, Landcruiser engine experience, injectors, clutches, air conditioning systems, and other vehicle components
  • Uses proper procedure when lifting and lowering vehicles, removing wheels, proper tightening, and troubleshooting problems with front-end wear and alignments
  • Knows proper sizes and tread patterns for best usage for different types of vehicles in field
  • Troubleshoots, removes and repairs brake systems, fuel system, suspension system, and other systems on all vehicles
  • Works in variety of electrical areas on automobiles and equipment, including basic wiring of pickups and engines
  • Perform schedule automotive maintenance services on vehicles
  • Demonstrate the ability to ensure correct parts selection and installation, or repair on vehicles / equipment
  • Repair, and maintain a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems on mining mobile equipment including, but not limited to, diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, computer, and power transmission systems
  • Meets with direct reports on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly, ) to communicate company information including new initiatives, financial performance, goals and objectives, benchmarks and best practices

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualification:

  • Trade school/college graduate or Should have 2 - 3 years relevant technical education
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Auto wiring certification and experience is an added advantage

Experience:

  • five (5) years heavy diesel maintenance experience
  • Tire and Lube Technician Experience
  • Must have five (3) years of experience in automotive or diesel mechanics, diesel or gasoline engines which may include fleet

Skills:

  • Basic Gas and arc welding
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, in English.
