Scope of work

  • The M&E Consultant is responsible for designing, implementing, and strengthening Nalafem's monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems to measure programme performance, demonstrate impact, and support evidence-based decision-making. The consultant will lead data collection, analysis, reporting, and learning processes, ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements, develop monitoring tools and frameworks, and provide technical support to teams to promote continuous learning, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and operationalize Nalafem's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework, including indicators, data collection tools, reporting templates, and performance tracking systems aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Lead the collection, management, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data across Nalafem's programmes, leadership initiatives, convenings, advocacy campaigns, and partnerships to measure results and impact.
  • Develop and maintain an AI powered MEL database to ensure timely, accurate, and secure data management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare periodic MEL reports, dashboards, donor reports, and learning products that provide evidence of programme performance, outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Design and coordinate baseline, endline, and other programme assessments and evaluations to measure effectiveness, outcomes, and long-term impact.
  • Conduct data quality assurance and verification processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, reliability, and integrity of programme data.
  • Document Nalafem's impact through success stories, case studies, lessons learned, and best practices to support organizational learning, communications, advocacy, and resource mobilization.
  • Provide technical guidance and capacity building to Nalafem staff, and partners on MEL systems, data collection methodologies, reporting requirements, and results-based management.
  • Support proposal development and donor reporting by contributing MEL frameworks, indicators, targets, and evidence-based results for funding proposals and grant reports.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on MEL findings to strengthen programme design, improve implementation, and enhance Nalafem's impact across its areas of work.

Qualifications and skills

  • Demonstrated experience and track record in monitoring and evaluation with one or more of the sectors outlined above
  • AI Knowledge in M&E management
  • An informed understanding of the issues in the African Young Women Beijing+25 Manifesto and Nalafem Mission
  • Strong ability to manage time and meet established deadlines, deliverables and milestones
  • Identification with Afresist vision and mission
  • Flexibility and capacity to collaborate across teams
  • Understanding of digital platforms and familiarity with remote working environments, including adaptability with different time zones
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent public speaking skills and demonstrated ability to write and produce documents under tight deadlines
