- The Transport Manager is responsible for establishing and managing DP World Road transport operations, including own fleet management, yard operations, and local & regional corridor development, with an initial focus Port to ICD operations.
- The role will build and operate an efficient trucking business supporting port logistics, inland transport, and cross-border freight movements while ensuring safety, operational excellence, and commercial growth.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
Fleet Operations Management
- Manage daily operations of the trucking fleet (initially 8 trucks and trailers).
- Plan and optimize truck scheduling, dispatching, and routing.
- Monitor fleet utilization, productivity, and operational KPIs.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained according to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Manage fuel consumption, driver performance, and operational costs.
- Implement fleet tracking systems (GPS/telematics).
Yard & Landside Operations
- Oversee yard operations including truck flows, container handling coordination, and gate movements.
- Ensure efficient coordination between trucking operations and port/terminal activities.
- Implement yard planning and traffic flow procedures.
- Optimize container pickup and delivery operations.
- Develop road freight operations across the corridors.
- Establish operational partnerships with logistics providers, transporters, and inland depots.
- Support the development of cargo between corridors.
- Monitor cross-border regulatory compliance, transit procedures, and transport documentation.
- Identify opportunities to expand volumes of transit cargo.
Commercial & Business Development
- Identify opportunities for new road freight services and customers.
- Support pricing strategies and transport service offerings.
- Develop relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and key shippers.
- Contribute to growth strategy for inland logistics solutions.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Implement strict road safety and driver compliance programs.
- Ensure compliance with local transport regulations and cross-border requirements.
- Monitor HSE standards across fleet and yard operations.
- Manage incident investigations and risk mitigation.
- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, expeditors, and operational controllers.
- Establish performance management systems for operational teams.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Systems & Process Implementation
- Implement transport management systems (TMS) and fleet tracking tools.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for road freight operations.
- Implement reporting dashboards for operational performance.

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or Engineering.
- Master's degree or MBA in Logistics/Supply Chain is a plus.
Skills and Experience Required:
- 6 - 10 years' experience in trucking, transport, or logistics operations.
- Experience managing fleet operations and cross-border transport.
- Experience in West African logistics corridors is highly desirable.
- Experience in port logistics or container transport is an advantage.
- Experience operating transport services linked to a major port logistics platform.
- Knowledge of ECOWAS transit procedures and regional transport regulations.
- Experience working with transport management systems (TMS) and telematics.
