The Radiology Manager provides daytoday operational leadership and management of the Radiology Department, ensuring safe, timely, patientcentred, and highquality diagnostic imaging services. The role oversees workforce coordination, service delivery, equipment utilization, quality and safety systems, regulatory compliance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement, while supporting the Head of Department in implementing clinical, operational, and strategic objectives.ResponsibilitiesService Operations

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily radiology operations across modalities

Maintain safe patient flow, appropriate staffing, and efficient utilization of imaging capacityWorkforce Management

Prepare duty rosters, allocate staff, monitor attendance and leave

Support recruitment, onboarding, and address performance issuesQuality & Patient Safety

Implement and audit imaging protocols, QA/QC processes

Investigate incidents, complaints, and service failures; ensure corrective actionsEquipment & Infrastructure

Monitor equipment performance, uptime, and preventive maintenance

Coordinate fault reporting, service visits, and contribute to procurement planningPerformance & Turnaround Time

Monitor workload, waiting times, reporting workflows, and turnaround indicators

Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective measuresGovernance & Documentation

Ensure departmental policies, SOPs, records, and audits are accurate and current

Maintain compliance with patient confidentiality and hospital accreditation standardsRadiation Safety

Support implementation of radiationsafety requirements with Radiation Safety Officer

Ensure staff compliance and corrective actions for safety concernsResource & Cost Management

Support budgeting and cost control

Monitor consumables, contrast media, stock levels, and overtime utilizationStaff Development

Identify training needs, coordinate induction and competency assessments

Promote professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learningStakeholder Coordination

Liaise with (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});HoD, radiologists, nursing, wards, clinics, theatres, and other departments

Resolve operational issues and improve patient pathwaysDigital Systems & Improvement

Support effective use of RIS, PACS, and digital tools

Participate in service redesign, automation, and dataquality projectsService Development & Change Management

Support implementation of new imaging services, equipment, and workflows

Coordinate staff readiness, documentation, training, and rolloutLeadership & Escalation

Act as operational focal point for the department

Manage daytoday escalations and refer matters requiring HoD authorityQualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiography/Medical Imaging (Bachelor’s preferred)

Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management, leadership, or quality management is an advantage

Experience in JCIaccredited hospital or qualityimprovement activities preferred

Minimum 5 years’ radiology/imaging experience, including 2 years in supervisory/management role

Current professional registration/licensure in good standing with Kenyan regulatory requirements
