Job Description The Locum Nurse provides nursing care to patients, supporting the delivery of safe, timely and quality patient care in accordance with professional standards, hospital policies and applicable healthcare regulations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities Provide comprehensive nursing services to all patients to assist them regain good health Participate in ward rounds, write ward reports and submit the same in a timely manner Carry out nursing care plans and monitor patients' progress Administer and monitor intravenous (IV) fluids in accordance with prescribed treatment and nursing protocols Carry out blood transfusions and monitor patients for any adverse reactions Monitor and deliver mothers in labour and receive and resuscitate babies as required Order and administer drugs as prescribed and in accordance with established procedures Assist in the theatre as required Recruit new clients for MCH/FP and give health talks & trainings to patients and clients Provide Family Planning Services and Child Welfare Clinics Provide Counselling to patients Follow and maintain antiseptic techniques and ensure infection prevention SOPs are followed Instrument cleaning/sluicing and sterilization/autoclaving Cleaning and dressing of wounds, removal of stitches Document patients' dietary requirements and ensure the prescribed diets are followed Provide nursing care to patients in transit to referral hospitals and ensure they are procedurally admitted to the receiving hospitals Carry out preventive medicine activities from time to time Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and nursing documentation Report any changes in patients' conditions or other concerns to the appropriate medical practitioner or supervisor Maintain confidentiality and uphold patients' rights, dignity and privacy at all times Perform any other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by the supervisor Job Requirements Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) from a recognized institution Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and hold a valid practising licence Minimum two years' working experience in a related field

Responsibilities Responsibilities Perform wound assessment, reassessment, and wound management for all patients. Utilize principles of current wound management when providing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of staging system of wounds. Develop skin care programs to prevent skin breakouts for patients. Revise plan of care as indicated by patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan effectiveness. Utilize appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families regarding pain management. Provide education to patients undergoing surgery that results in an ostomy; conduct pre and postoperative assessments and patient/family education. Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition. Act as a resource person to physicians, nursing, and other hospital staff; provide inservices on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence. Communicate appropriately and clearly to nurse managers, nursing staff, and physicians. Consult other healthcare professionals/departments as appropriate to provide interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. Attend seminars, conferences, and continuing education classes in wound prevention, wound management, and ostomies; participate in professional societies and stay current with advancements/treatments. Demonstrate knowledge of clinical products currently available on the market, evaluate products, and make recommendations. Document all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multidisciplinary team, and family/patient interactions accurately and comprehensively. Promptly report both clinical and nonclinical unusual findings/incidences to the nurse manager, team leader, or physician. Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies.Requirements Requirements KRCHN/BScN from a recognized school of Nursing or University. Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya. Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS). Certificate in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (CWOCN) preferred. Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in an acute care hospital. Evidencebased knowledge of current practices in MedicalSurgical nursing.
