About the Role

  • NOBZO is seeking a diligent and commercially aware Legal Counsel / Lawyer I to support the Legal Directorate in providing effective legal advisory, contract management, compliance, and documentation support across the organisation.
  • The role will work under the guidance of the Director of Legal and Lawyer II, supporting the review and preparation of contracts, legal documents, regulatory matters, corporate records, and day-to-day legal requests across NOBZO's operations.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to identifying and mitigating legal risks while ensuring that NOBZO's business activities, agreements, and internal processes remain aligned with applicable Nigerian laws and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and support the negotiation of commercial agreements, contracts, MOUs, and other legal documents.
  • Provide legal research and advisory support on operational, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
  • Assist in monitoring NOBZO's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support the Legal Directorate in maintaining corporate records, contracts, legal correspondence, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, opinions, and reports as required.
  • Assist with legal due diligence for prospective partnerships, business arrangements, and other corporate activities.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and escalation of potential legal and regulatory risks.
  • Assist with dispute resolution, legal correspondence, and liaison with external counsel where required.
  • Support the review and updating of internal policies, agreements, and legal templates.
  • Collaborate with other Directorates to ensure legal considerations are properly addressed in business and operational activities.
  • Perform other legal and compliance duties assigned by the Director of Legal or Lawyer II.

Requirements

  • LL.B and B.L with qualification as a Nigerian legal practitioner.
  • 1 - 3 years of post-call professional experience.
  • Experience in corporate/commercial law, contract review, legal research, or a related area.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian corporate, labour, regulatory, and data protection laws.
  • Familiarity with commercial contracts and legal documentation.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of legal risk identification and compliance.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple legal assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and meet deadlines.
