We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide administrative, documentation, research, and coordination support to the legal function. The successful candidate will assist with legal documentation, correspondence, filing, research, contract administration, case tracking, and other legal and administrative activities. Experience in real estate, property, corporate, or commercial law will be an added advantage.

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the legal team.
  • Prepare, format, organize, and maintain legal documents, agreements, letters, notices, and correspondence.
  • Assist with legal research and gather relevant legislation, regulations, case information, and supporting materials.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for contracts, property documents, legal correspondence, cases, and other records.
  • Assist in reviewing contracts and other legal documents and flag issues or inconsistencies for the attention of the Legal Officer/Manager.
  • Track contract expiry dates, renewal dates, obligations, notices, and other important legal deadlines.
  • Assist with preparation and follow-up of documentation for property transactions, leases, agreements, and other business matters.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external solicitors, government agencies, consultants, and other stakeholders as directed.
  • Maintain a legal matters tracker and provide updates on outstanding actions and deadlines.
  • Assist with meeting preparation, minutes, document circulation, and follow-up of legal action points.
  • Support the organization of documents required for litigation, dispute resolution, audits, and regulatory matters.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of legal and company information.
  • Assist with compliance documentation and regulatory filings where required.
  • Perform other legal and administrative duties assigned by the legal team.

Requirement

  • Strong knowledge of legal administrative processes and document management.
  • Good legal research, drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management tools.
  • Strong time-management and ability to track multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of real estate, property, corporate, or commercial law is an advantage.
  • LL.B degree from a recognized university.
  • BL qualification/call to the Nigerian Bar is an added advantage, where applicable to the role.
  • 1 - 3 years\' relevant legal, legal administrative, or corporate support experience.
  • Experience in real estate, property management, construction, or corporate legal practice is an advantage.
