Requirements:
- A completed LLB or equivalent compliance qualification.
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in legal and compliance within consumer retail and consumer finance - non-negotiable.
- Strong knowledge of South African and Sub-Sahara Africa jurisdiction consumer protection laws, financial regulations, and corporate governance. Proven ability to manage legal risks in a high-pressure business environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in consumer retail and consumer finance.
- Provide expert legal advice on commercial transactions and regulatory matters.
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies and frameworks to mitigate legal and financial risks.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and investigate legal matters.
- Conduct internal compliance audits and ensure adherence to law and policies.
- Manage legal disputes and litigation effectively.
- Support business units by providing practical legal solutions in a fast-paced and high pressure environment.
