The Lead, Business Development (EPC) will develop and execute the business development strategy for Propetrol's EPC portfolio, with accountability for opportunity origination, client growth, contract wins, and contribution to revenue and profitability.
The successful candidate will lead strategic client engagements, manage the opportunity pipeline, and coordinate competitive bids with technical and commercial teams. This role requires a commercially experienced professional who can turn market intelligence and industry relationships into viable, profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the EPC business development strategy, including target markets, priority accounts, and growth plans.
Originate and pursue opportunities across oil and gas, marine, industrial infrastructure, and renewable energy markets.
Own the business development pipeline and drive opportunities from qualification through negotiation and contract award.
Build relationships with senior client decision-makers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners.
Lead account planning, client presentations, and commercial engagements.
Evaluate opportunities and lead bid/no-bid reviews with relevant stakeholders.
Oversee vendor registrations, pre-qualification submissions, and access to client procurement platforms.
Lead bid and proposal coordination across Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Finance, and Legal.
Work with technical and finance teams to develop pricing strategies and assess project margins, cash flow, and commercial risks.
Lead commercial negotiations within delegated authority and secure required approvals before commitments are made.
Develop partnerships and consortium arrangements that strengthen capability and market access.
Provide pipeline forecasts, bid performance reports, market intelligence, and growth recommendations to management.
Drive agreed targets for contract awards, revenue, margins, and strategic account development.
Oversee contract handover to project delivery teams, ensuring scope, obligations, assumptions, and commitments are clearly documented.
Lead and mentor business development colleagues and strengthen sales processes and reporting discipline.
Ensure all business development activities comply with company governance, approval procedures, and ethical standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline.
Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in business development, technical sales, or commercial management, including at least three years leading accounts, bids, or business development initiatives.
Strong experience within EPC, engineering services, oil and gas, infrastructure, or renewable energy.
Demonstrable track record of originating opportunities and securing significant contracts.
Established network across relevant clients, contractors, consultants, and industry partners.
Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycles, tendering processes, procurement requirements, and commercial contracting.
Proven experience leading proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to evaluate project economics, delivery risks, and partnership opportunities.
Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, and presentation tools.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications are advantages.
