Key Responsibilities

Analysis on environmental samples (water, gases, sediments and soils.) This involves:

  • Conducting tests: Using a range of lab instruments to perform chemical, biochemical, physical, and biological analyses.
  • Ensuring quality: Following strict quality assurance and safety protocols, including maintaining a legal chain of custody for samples.
  • Maintaining equipment: Calibrating and maintaining laboratory instruments.
  • Record keeping: Accurately recording and managing data, often using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Sample collection: Occasionally collecting environmental samples in the field.
  • Method development: Developing and implementing new analytical methods when needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum of a BSc, HND, or ND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Science Laboratory Technology.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in quantitative laboratory analysis and safety practices.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to accurately record and interpret data.
  • Strong communication skills.

Conduct environmental and water quality testing as required. Manage sample retention and traceability procedures. Support internal audits, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement activities. Ensure compliance with FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, and other regulatory standards. Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and product quality issues. Maintain laboratory inventory and request consumables and reagents as needed. Requirements B.Sc. / HND in Food Science & Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related discipline. 2 - 4 years' experience in FMCG manufacturing or food production environment. Strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures and quality control systems. Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards. Good documentation and reporting skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
