Duties and Responsibilities
Resolve network-related user support requests, diagnose connectivity problems, troubleshoot incidents and escalate complex network issues to the appropriate technical personnel.
Install, configure, administer and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless access points, network printers and other network devices.
Monitor network performance, availability and connectivity, identify faults and implement corrective measures to ensure reliable access to Polytechnic ICT services.
Configure and maintain Local Area Networks (LANs), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), structured cabling, network ports and related connectivity infrastructure.
Implement approved network security measures, including access controls, VLAN segmentation, firewall rules and secure wireless configurations, in accordance with Polytechnic ICT policies.
Administer network services and protocols, including TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS) and network authentication services.
Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, IP address registers, device configurations, equipment inventories and records of network incidents and changes.
Conduct routine network maintenance, configuration backups, firmware updates and connectivity tests, and document the results to support network reliability and service continuity.
Prepare technical specifications for network equipment, connectivity solutions and related ICT infrastructure, and provide technical advice on network installations, upgrades and replacements.
Guide user departments on network connectivity, access to Polytechnic ICT resources and the proper use of network facilities.
Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.Requirements for Appointment
Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor's degree in any of the following (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});disciplines: Computer Science, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Business Information Technology, or any other equivalent ICT-related qualification.
Professional certification in computer networking such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, Huawei HCIA-Datacom, MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA), or an equivalent certification.
Demonstrated practical skills in installing, configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, wireless access points and structured cabling, gained through industrial attachment, internship or practical work.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing and subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, network security, and Windows Server or Linux server administration.
Knowledge of network monitoring tools, IP telephony (VoIP) and IP-based CCTV systems.
