Role Description
The Junior Process Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos, supporting process design, optimization, and safe operation of oil and gas facilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in developing and reviewing process flow diagrams and P&IDs, performing basic calculations and simulations, and supporting senior engineers in evaluating plant performance. The role involves monitoring process parameters, identifying deviations, and contributing to troubleshooting activities to enhance efficiency and reliability. The Junior Process Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, prepares technical reports and documentation, and supports the implementation of process control strategies and best practices. The position also includes adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor daily LNG plant operating data and process parameters and identify deviations.
Support investigation and troubleshooting of process and operational issues.
Assist with process performance monitoring, KPI reporting and variance analysis.
Support identification of opportunities to improve plant efficiency, production and product quality.
Prepare and update PFDs, P&IDs, UFDs, line lists and other process documents.
Perform basic process calculations including line sizing, hydraulic, pump, vessel and utility calculations.
Support preparation and review of SOPs, checklists and operating procedures.
Assist with process equipment and vendor document reviews.
Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and shutdown activities.
Support Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs), plant modifications and process improvement activities.
Work with Operations, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Electrical teams to resolve plant/process issues.
Maintain accurate process data, reports and engineering records.
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
Understanding of gas processing and LNG operations.
Knowledge of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid flow and separation processes.
Ability to read and interpret PFDs and P&IDs.
Basic knowledge of pumps, compressors, vessels, heat exchangers and valves.
Basic knowledge of process control and DCS operations.
Working knowledge of Aspen HYSYS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
Basic understanding of API, ASME, ANSI and ISO standards.
Awareness of process safety, PTW, HAZOP/HAZID and MOC.
QUALIFICATION
B.Eng / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
NYSC completed or exempted.
EXPERIENCE
2 - 3 years of relevant experience in process engineering, LNG, gas processing, oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power or other process plant environments.
Exposure to plant operations, process monitoring, technical reporting, process calculations or troubleshooting is an advantage
