We are seeking a Junior Port Operations Officer to support the smooth coordination of vessel and port activities.
The ideal candidate should have experience in a shipping company and practical knowledge of vessel operations, crew changes, husbandry services, and customs procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and support vessel berthing and port call activities.
Assist with crew change arrangements, including documentation and logistics.
Coordinate husbandry services such as provisions, spares, transportation, and other vessel requirements.
Liaise with NPA, NIMASA, Customs, terminals, immigration, and other relevant authorities.
Prepare and process port, vessel, and customs documentation.
Monitor vessel arrival, berthing, operations, and departure schedules.
Communicate with ship masters, agents, terminals, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Ensure port operations are carried out efficiently and in line with applicable regulations.
Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
B.Sc./HND in Maritime Studies, Shipping & Port Management, Transport Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
1 - 3 years' experience in port/shipping operations.
Experience working with a shipping company or maritime agency is highly preferred.
Practical experience in vessel berthing, crew change, husbandry, and customs handling.
Good knowledge of Nigerian port operations and relevant maritime procedures.
Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to vessel/port operational requirements.
