The Junior Legal & Communication Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Jos. The role involves supporting the legal department with drafting, reviewing, and organizing contracts, legal documents, and compliance records, as well as assisting with regulatory filings, registrations and maintaining up-to-date documentation. The officer will contribute to internal and external communications, including drafting official correspondence, and supporting strategic communication initiatives related to the company's products and operations. The role also involves maintaining communication archives, assisting with communication plans for campaigns and announcements, and providing general administrative support to the legal and communication functions.
Job Description
Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to draft and review documents, contracts and professional correspondence.
Preparing all the necessary company secretarial work; drafting board meeting notice and agenda, compiling board reports and proposal memos, minutes taking and action tracking.
Statutory and Regulatory Filings e.g annual returns, articles of incorporation, bylaws, and business licenses, notice of changes and special resolutions.
Support in the maintenance of statutory registers and books; register of charges, register of members (shareholders) and register of directors and secretaries.
Support in corporate structure, incorporation and intellectual property management.
Providing the necessary legal advice to the group of companies and to the management in a timely manner.
Experience or training in press releases and media relations, with the ability to support outreach to media and external stakeholders.
Understanding of strategic communications, including developing and implementing basic communication plans and messaging frameworks.
Qualifications
Relevant academic background, such as a degree in Law and any relevant certification
Foundational knowledge of corporate or commercial law, corporate law, contracts, business registration and regulatory compliance (experience in FMCG or agriculture is an advantage).
1-5 years of experience in FMCG, law or agricultural firms is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines on-site.
Proficiency in ERPs and google work tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, demonstrate professional judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
