Junior Accounting Officer At The M & W Nuts Company

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper documentation and filing of invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and other financial records.
• Record and update financial transactions accurately in the company's accounting system.
• Assist in preparing financial documents and schedules required for external financial audits.
• Support departmental internal audit activities by gathering relevant documentation and reconciling records with the company's accounting software.
• Verify that accounting records are consistent with the systems or software (e.g., QuickBooks)
• Process and monitor routine departmental expenses while ensuring compliance with company financial policies.
• Prepare payment requests and maintain supporting documentation for approvals.
• Assist with bank, cash, and petty cash reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on supporting documentation where necessary.
• Ensure all financial records are complete, accurate, and readily available for review.
• Assist with inventory and fixed asset record verification where required.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an accounting support role, assisting an Accountant or Finance Officer.
• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks, ERP systems, or other accounting software is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory remittances is an added advantage.
