Job Summary (Purpose of the Role)

  • Keeps the bank's technology running the core banking system, network, devices, and security systems withminimal downtime, protected data, and reliable daily backups.

Job Responsibilities

  • Before opening, onfirm servers, core banking application, network, internet links, and power backup are all up.
  • Create / modify / disable user profiles on the core banking system strictly on approved requests; enforce password policy.
  • Provide first-level support to staff on system, hardware, and printing issues throughout the day.
  • Monitor internet / ISP links and switch to backup connectivity during outages; log all downtime.
  • Support the Head of Operations during end-of-day processing; escalate EOD errors to the application vendor and follow through to resolution.
  • Run and verify daily data backups; test restores periodically and keep an offsite/cloud copy.
  • Maintain the IT asset register, CCTV system, and access controls; review logs for anomalies.
  • Apply antivirus/OS updates and brief staff on phishing/social engineering threats.
  • Liaise with vendors (core banking, ISP, hardware) on SLAs, faults, and projects.

Requirements

Qualification:

  • B.Sc./HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Professional Certification:

  • CompTIA A+/Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft certifications are an advantage; core banking application certification (e.g., BankOne) is a plus.

Experience Required:

  • 2 - 4 years in IT support / administration, preferably supporting a banking application environment.
  • Experience with core banking applications, database management, and networking, experience with LAN/Wi-Fi, Windows administration and hardware maintenance required.

Technical / Job Skills:

  • Core banking application administration (user setup, EOD support, patch coordination with vendor)
  • Network and internet management
  • Hardware/printer/UPS/inverter maintenance
  • Data backup and restore testing;
  • Cybersecurity basics (antivirus, access control, phishing awareness)
