Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced litigation lawyer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, with experience spanning human rights, public interest, banking, and commercial disputes.

We are looking for a lawyer who is genuinely passionate about litigation, confident in court, comfortable taking ownership of cases, and committed to using the law to protect rights, resolve disputes and advance access to justice.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to:

Manage litigation matters from inception through trial and, where necessary, appeal.

Conduct human rights and public interest litigation, including matters involving the enforcement of fundamental rights and access to justice.

Handle banking, debt recovery, contractual and other commercial disputes.

Draft pleadings, applications, written addresses, legal opinions, and other court processes.

Conduct legal research, develop litigation strategies, prepare witnesses and evidence, and present cases in court.

Advise clients on litigation risks, available remedies, and dispute resolution strategies.

Manage case files, monitor court processes and deadlines, and provide timely reports on the progress of matters.

Identify opportunities for strategic litigation and contribute to the firm’s public interest and pro bono initiatives.

Requirements The ideal candidate must:

Be a qualified legal practitioner called to the Nigerian Bar, with at least 4–5 years’ post-call experience in litigation.

Have demonstrable experience handling human rights, public interest, banking and/or commercial litigation.

Have personally conducted cases through trial. Experience limited to drafting processes, attending court, or assisting senior counsel will not be sufficient.

Have a sound working knowledge of Nigerian court procedures, evidence, litigation strategy and trial practice.

Demonstrate strong legal research, drafting, analytical and oral advocacy skills.

Be able to independently manage cases, exercise sound judgment and take responsibility for litigation outcomes.

Have a genuine passion for litigation, human rights and the role of the law in protecting individuals and advancing the public interest.

Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

What We Are Looking For:

Beyond years of experience, we want a lawyer who enjoys the work of litigation: analysing facts, identifying legal issues, developing arguments, preparing for trial and advocating persuasively in court.

The successful candidate should understand that good litigation begins with a thorough grasp of the facts, a sound understanding of the law and meticulous preparation

We value initiative, intellectual rigour, sound judgment and a willingness to take ownership of difficult cases.

Salary N350,000 - N400,000 monthly.
