About the role

To lead the health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) function, protecting patients, staff, visitors and the environment through effective HSSE systems, risk management and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the HSSE management system across the hospital.
• Conduct and oversee risk assessments, inspections and audits.
• Develop and implement HSSE policies, procedures and training.
• Lead incident prevention, investigation and reporting.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, security and environmental management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable HSSE regulations and standards.
• Supervise and develop HSSE staff.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HSSE management, risk and compliance.Ability to lead HSSE systems, audits and training.Incident investigation and emergency-preparedness skills.
• Ability to supervise staff.
• Effective communication and influence.

Experience

• Substantial experience in HSSE, including a senior or supervisory element.
• Experience in risk assessment, incident management and HSSE systems.
• Role-specific experience in a healthcare, industrial or institutional HSSE environment.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or HND in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental/health sciences, safety, engineering or sciences).
• Completion of NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
