Lagos Executive Cardiovascular Centre is seeking a competent, detail-oriented and experienced Hospital Accountant to support the financial management and operational efficiency of our healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, management accounts and budget performance reports.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor revenue cycles, including patient billing, insurance claims, HMO reconciliations and payment tracking.
  • Ensure proper accounting for cash collections, POS transactions and other hospital revenues.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets and expenditure reports.
  • Support cost control initiatives and provide financial analysis to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory deductions and financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain accurate audit documentation.
  • Monitor inventory-related financial transactions, including pharmacy and medical consumables.
  • Develop and implement financial controls, policies and procedures to safeguard hospital assets.
  • Work closely with management to support strategic planning and informed decision-making.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism and high ethical standards in all financial activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, ICAN or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital billing systems, HMOs, revenue cycle management and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
