Health Safety And Environment Officer At Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited

Job Purpose

• The HSE Officer promotes and maintains a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace across Amo Farm operations.
• The role involves implementing HSE policies, conducting inspections, identifying risks, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the company's Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Identify hazards and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor compliance with PPE, safety procedures, fire safety, emergency response, and safe work practices.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, and prepare detailed reports.
• Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety training, and awareness programmes for employees and contractors.
• Monitor environmental practices including waste management, chemical handling, pollution prevention, and housekeeping.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, inspection checklists, and incident documentation.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and ensure emergency equipment is available and functional.
• Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies and support compliance with applicable HSE legislation and standards.
• Advise management and employees on HSE risks and recommended control measures.
• Follow up on identified corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
• Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across the farm.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree / HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
• Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is an added advantage.
• 4-6 years' experience in HSE, preferably within agriculture, manufacturing, food production, poultry, or a related industrial environment.
• Good knowledge of HSE legislation, risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response.
• Strong communication, reporting, observation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a farm/industrial environment and conduct regular field inspections.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
