  • This is a senior leadership position requiring a commercially astute, hands-on, and decisive hospitality professional who can make significant operational and business decisions while maintaining strong communication with the Chairman and Board.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Business Leadership

  • Translate the hotel's strategic objectives into actionable operational and commercial plans.
  • Drive profitability, revenue growth, market positioning, and overall property performance.
  • Identify and develop new revenue opportunities across rooms, F&B, and other income streams.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and changing guest expectations to maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide regular performance updates and strategic recommendations to the Chairman and Board.
  • Financial Performance & P&L Management
  • Take full ownership of the hotel's P&L and overall financial performance.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and financial targets.
  • Review departmental financial performance and investigate significant variances.
  • Drive cost optimisation without compromising service quality or guest experience.
  • Ensure effective revenue management, cash-flow discipline, procurement controls, and financial accountability.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Operations Oversight

  • Provide leadership across Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, Engineering & Maintenance, Security, and other operational functions.
  • Establish and enforce clear operational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between departments and effective resolution of operational issues.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, service delivery, and property presentation.
  • Ensure the property is adequately prepared for peak periods, special events, and operational disruptions.

Guest Experience & Brand Standards

  • Champion a consistently high-quality guest experience across all touchpoints.
  • Monitor guest feedback, reviews, complaints, and satisfaction indicators.
  • Establish service standards and ensure consistent implementation across departments.
  • Personally intervene in significant guest issues and service recovery situations.
  • Protect and enhance the hotel's reputation and market positioning.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Build, lead, and develop a capable and accountable management team.
  • Set clear performance expectations and hold department heads accountable for agreed KPIs.
  • Coach and mentor senior leaders to improve performance and succession readiness.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, integrity, and service excellence.
  • Work with HR/Admin on workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, training, and employee relations.
  • Address performance issues promptly and fairly.

Stakeholder & Owner Relations

  • Maintain a strong, transparent, and professional relationship with the Chairman and Board.
  • Provide timely reporting on financial, operational, commercial, and people-related matters.
  • Present recommendations and business cases where significant investments or strategic decisions are required.
  • Represent the hotel professionally with key clients, suppliers, partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

Risk, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable hospitality, health and safety, employment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate controls around financial, operational, security, and reputational risks.
  • Ensure effective emergency preparedness and incident-management procedures.
  • Work with the Security and Engineering teams to maintain a safe environment for guests, employees, and assets.
  • Ensure required licenses, permits, certifications, and statutory obligations remain current.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • An MBA or postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 8 - 10 years' progressive experience in hotel or hospitality operations, with at least 3 - 5 years' experience in a General Manager or senior hotel management position.
  • Proven experience with P&L ownership and commercial performance management.
  • Experience managing boutique, independent, or owner-led hotel properties is highly desirable.
  • Experience working directly with hotel ownership or a Board.
  • Experience managing a property through renovation, rebranding, restructuring, or significant operational change is an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, and hotel administration.
  • Familiarity with hotel PMS, revenue management, and financial reporting systems.
