JOB PURPOSE

The Finance Controller provides senior financial leadership for a Abuja business complex housing multiple factories and product lines. The role is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across all businesses in the complex, for embedding strong financial controls and cost discipline across every factory floor, and for acting as the primary finance business partner to complex and plant leadership. This is a senior role suited to a candidate who has directly managed finance for more than one factory or manufacturing unit operating under a single site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership & Control

  • Own the full financial control environment for all factories/business units within the complex, ensuring accurate, timely and IFRS-compliant financial statements.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close across all business units in the complex and preparing the Management Accounts with detailed schedules.
  • Design and enforce financial controls, approval matrices and segregation of duties appropriate to a multi-factory environment.
  • Own the balance sheet for the company — including reconciliations, provisioning and detailing of all key GL accounts.

Business Partnering

  • Act as the lead finance partner to Plant leadership across all product lines, translating factory-floor performance into financial insight.
  • Provide P&L and margin visibility by factory and by product line, highlighting cost drivers and efficiency opportunities.
  • Support pricing, capex and investment decisions with robust financial analysis specific to each manufacturing line.
  • Build, lead and develop the finance team within the complex — Cost & Inventory Controller(s), AP, AR and GL/Fixed Asset roles.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting for all businesses within the complex.
  • Own working capital management — inventory, receivables and payables — across the complex.
  • Deliver Management reporting packs and variance analysis to Senior Management.

ERP

  • Oversee the correct use of NetSuite OneWorld across all business units.
  • Ensure consistent finance processes and standards are applied uniformly across all factories in the complex.
  • Assist in creation and defining the costing process in the factories and translating the same in the ERP.

Audit – Internal & External

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements across all entities in the complex.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits covering the complex.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional accounting qualification required — ICAN or ACCA
  • Minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience, including at least 2–3 years in a senior finance leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing finance for multiple factories, product lines or business units operating under a single complex - this is essential, not preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and manufacturing/standard cost accounting.
  • Experience with NetSuite (or a comparable multi-entity ERP) strongly preferred.

You build the system once, properly, rather than patching it every quarter You're comfortable holding a multi-entity, multi-currency picture in your head and explaining it simply to the CFO and Board You know the difference between setting the standard and doing the work. You'd rather make each market's FP&A team excellent within a shared framework than take their work off them You push back on numbers that don't reconcile, and you don't sign off until they do You're a strong people manager. You can direct analysts and get consistent, house-standard output from a small team You communicate in writing the way you model: structured, precise, no padding You operate well remotely: proactive, well-organised, comfortable driving a Group-wide process without being in the room What success looks like Group forecast is reconciled to actuals monthly, with variances explained within an agreed tolerance Management, board and investor reporting are delivered on time, every cycle, without late-stage rework Budget process runs to a fixed calendar with BU sign-off, with no material off-cycle changes BU finance leads use the Group model and house standards as their working framework, not a parallel one CFO and Group CEO treat the FP&A output as the single source of truth for decision-making What to expect in the hiring process A preliminary phone call with one of our recruiters.
