- The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and controls of one or more subsidiary entities within the Group. The role requires a strong technical accounting background, sound understanding of regulatory requirements across the financial services sector, and the ability to work within a matrixed reporting structure, aligning with Group financial policies and standards while supporting the strategic and operational priorities of the subsidiary's management.
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) for the assigned entity(ies), in line with IFRS and Group reporting standards.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger, including timely reconciliations, journal reviews, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Consolidate entity-level financials for Group reporting purposes, ensuring consistency with Group templates and reporting timelines.
- Support preparation of the Group's Management Performance Report (MPR) inputs, including budget variance analysis, profitability, and cost performance for the entity.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., CBN prudential guidelines, SEC regulations, NDIC where applicable) relevant to the entity's licence category.
- Coordinate statutory audits, regulatory examinations, and tax filings (FIRS, State IRS) for the entity.
- Monitor capital adequacy, liquidity ratios, and other prudential metrics, escalating breaches or risks promptly.
- Maintain robust internal controls and support internal/external audit processes.
Budgeting, Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for the entity, in alignment with Group planning timelines and assumptions.
- Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide commentary on drivers of performance.
- Provide financial analysis to support pricing, product profitability, and cost optimization decisions.
- Track portfolio quality, recoveries, and asset performance metrics relevant to the entity's business line.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage the entity's cash flow position, working capital, and funding requirements.
- Support fundraising initiatives (debt facilities, DFI funding, deposit mobilization, etc.) with financial data, projections, and due diligence support as required.
- Monitor and report on liquidity positions in line with Group and regulatory thresholds.
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Serve as the finance business partner to the subsidiary MD, providing financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Liaise with the Group Financial Controller to ensure alignment with Group accounting policies, reporting formats, and control standards.
- Manage and develop finance staff within the entity, ensuring adequate capacity and skills for the finance function.
- Coordinate with other Group finance managers/entities to support consolidated reporting and cross-entity initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Professional accounting certification required (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years post-qualification experience in financial services (banking, microfinance, leasing, or investment management), with at least 2 - 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and regulatory reporting requirements applicable to Nigerian financial institutions (CBN, SEC).
- Experience working within a group/holding company structure with multiple reporting lines is an advantage
