SUMMARY

Our client, a growing solar equipment wholesaler and technical training centre in Lagos, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance & Accounting Officer to manage its financial and accounting operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting cashflow management, preparing financial reports, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing financial support across the organisation's wholesale and training operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Financial Records

Maintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger

  • Process sales invoices, purchase invoices, expenses, and payments
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable
  • Reconcile bank statements and cash accounts
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning
  • Monitor operating costs and flag variances
  • Support internal financial controls and process improvements

Cashflow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor cash inflows and outflows to ensure liquidity
  • Support payment scheduling to suppliers and service providers
  • Track customer payments and follow up on overdue receivables
  • Support pricing, margin tracking, and cost analysis

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and file statutory returns, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory bodies
  • Support annual audits and financial reviews

Operational & Training Centre Support

  • Support financial administration of training programmes
  • Track training revenues, costs, and profitability
  • Support procurement processes and expense approvals
  • Work closely with operations, warehouse, and management teams

PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS/BACKGROUND

  • Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in accounting or finance roles
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail

Added Advantage:

  • Professional qualification or part-qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ANAN
  • Experience in wholesale, logistics, energy, or technical training sectors
  • Experience supporting start-ups or growing SMEs
  • Familiarity with inventory accounting and cost tracking
