Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
Diagnose & Treat: Assess, diagnose and manage acute illnesses like malaria, infections, injuries, and chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, asthma
Preventive Care: Conduct health screenings, immunizations, antenatal/postnatal care, family planning, well-child visits, and routine check-ups
Procedures: Perform minor office procedures such as wound care, suturing, joint injections, Pap smears
Emergency Care: Stabilize and manage urgent cases before referral
Patient & Family Management:
Provide patient education on lifestyle, nutrition, disease prevention, and medication adherence
Offer counseling on mental health, family planning, and chronic disease management
Maintain continuity of care for entire families across different life stages
Documentation & Coordination:
Maintain accurate EMR/medical records, prescriptions, and referral notes
Coordinate care with specialists, labs, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments
Make appropriate referrals and follow up on patient outcomes
Quality & Compliance:
Adhere to hospital/clinic protocols, medical ethics, and infection control standards
Participate in CME, audits, and quality improvement initiatives3.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: MBBS/MBChB from a recognized institution
License: Valid practicing license with Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria
Experience: 10-12+ years post-NYSC. Residency/Fellowship in Family Medicine is an advantage
Skills: Strong clinical judgment, communication, empathy, EMR proficiency, and ability to work in a team
