Job Description

The job holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centred primary healthcare to individuals and families across all age groups, including preventive care, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
Providing preventive care, health screening, and immunisation services
Managing chronic disease conditions and coordinating long-term care
Providing antenatal, postnatal, and child health services where required
Referring patients to specialists and coordinating multidisciplinary care
Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records
Collaborating with nursing staff, specialists, and other departments to ensure continuity of care
Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education
Providing health education and counselling to patients and families

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree
MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution
Valid registration and practising licence with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
Minimum of 2 - 4 years post-qualification experience in family medicine or general practice (postgraduate qualification in Family Medicine, e.g. FMCFM/FWACP, an advantage)
Sound knowledge of primary healthcare protocols and evidence-based clinical guidelines
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
Outstanding communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and people management skills
Knowledge of patient safety, infection control, and clinical risk management practices
Knowledge of relevant health legislation and regulatory requirements.
