Responsibilities
Lead the field Finance team supervise, mentor, and set performance standards
Assess capacity gaps and implement staffing, training, and support solutions
Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely execution and closure of issues
Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger postings and donor allocations
Support tax planning and ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory returns
Verify payment vouchers for accuracy and completeness before posting
Enforce procurement compliance and cost control, reporting spend vs budget
Ensure accurate and timely cash disbursements with proper documentation
Manage staff accounts receivables and follow up on advances liquidation
Build capacity of nonfinance staff on compliance and financial policies
Develop accountability documents for all budgeted program activities
Manage inventory and property registers as delegated
Ensure proper document management in online repositories (Box)
Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field (required)
Master’s degree (advantageous)Professional Certification
CPA, ACCA, or equivalent (preferred)Experience
Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});accounting or finance, preferably NGO/donorfunded
At least 2 years in a management position
Experience managing donorfunded grants and compliance with donor codes
Experience with procurement compliance, voucher review, and internal controls
Experience preparing for and managing audits with minimal findings
Strong knowledge of accounting software/ERP systems (QuickBooks, Intacct, Sun Systems, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
Sound knowledge of Uganda’s tax laws and statutory compliance obligations
Familiarity with document management systems (Box, GDrive)Key Attributes
