Estimator / Tender Engineer - Fire Protection

The Role

• Study tender documents, specifications and drawings; raise clarifications (RFIs) with clients and consultants.
• Join site surveys with the sales team and carry out quantity take-offs from drawings.
• Prepare BOQs and cost estimates with separable supply and installation rates, using the product catalogue and rates database.
• Prepare RFQs, suppliers and the registered subcontractor panel; compare and evaluate offers on a like-for-like basis.
• Complete the tender package: priced BOQ, technical compliance statement, qualifications and commercial terms.
• Track tender deadlines and submissions; keep the tender register and document control records up to date.
• Price variations, AMC contracts and counter sales of stock items and spares.
• Maintain and update the price and rates database; review estimate against actual project costs.

Job Requirements

• B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3 - 5 years' experience in estimation or tendering for fire-fighting systems (sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, foam or gas suppression).
• Working knowledge of NFPA standards and fire protection system components.
• Strong quantity take-off and cost build-up skills, including labour, material and subcontract elements.
• Advanced Excel skills; able to read AutoCAD drawings (estimating software is an advantage).
• Highly organized and accurate; able to manage several tenders and meet tight deadlines.
