MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Bridge the gap between development and operations by building, automating and maintaining reliable CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure, enabling the Company to build, test and release software faster, safer and more efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) to automate build, test and deployment processes, and take ownership of managing releases into staging and production environments, including release scheduling, versioning and rollback procedures.
Provision, configure and manage the Company's cloud infrastructure on AWS [confirm/adjust: e.g. EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, VPC] using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
Containerize applications and manage orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
Collaborate with development, QA and product teams to streamline coding, testing, and release procedures.
Integrate DevOps practices into the Agile SDLC by participating in sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives, and embedding automated testing and deployment gates at each stage of development.
Monitor system performance, availability and health using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog or CloudWatch, and set up alerting and logging.
Perform root cause analysis of production incidents and implement lasting fixes to improve reliability, including participating in an on-call rotation [confirm/adjust: e.g. 24/7 rotating on-call, remote-first with escalation to onsite as needed] to respond to and resolve critical incidents outside business hours.
Automate repetitive operational tasks and configuration management to reduce manual intervention and human error.
Implement and enforce security best practices and compliance requirements across the development and deployment pipeline (DevSecOps), including static and dynamic application security testing (e.g. SonarQube, OWASP ZAP), container/image vulnerability scanning (e.g. Trivy, Aqua), and secrets management (e.g. HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager).
Manage version control workflows and branching strategies using Git.
Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability and cost-efficiency.
Troubleshoot issues spanning multiple systems, environments and application layers.
Support disaster recovery, backup and business-continuity processes for production systems.
Document system architecture, deployment procedures and troubleshooting guides.
Participate in code and infrastructure reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Stay current with emerging DevOps tools, practices and industry trends, and champion a culture of automation and continuous improvement.
Provide support and maintenance for existing systems and applications as needed.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of software delivery processes and best practices.
