Dental Technician (periodical)

Requirements :

• National Diploma / National Higher Diploma in Dental Technology or BTech Degree in Dental Technology. Current registration with the South African Dental Technicians Council (SADTC).
• Minimum five (5) years' practical experience in the fabrication of removable prosthetics. Proven experience in the fabrication of complete and partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, obturators, splints, surgical stents and maxillo-facial appliances.
• Experience in fixed prosthetics will be an advantage. Sound knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Occupational Health and Safety, and relevant legislation, including the Dental Technicians Act.

Duties :

• Render specialized removable and other technical dental services, including the manufacture of complete and partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, obturators, surgical stents, splints and maxillo-facial appliances, as well as fixed prostheses where required. Maintain high technical and clinical standards and adhere to IPC, Occupational Health and Safety, and manufacturer specifications.
• Supervise and guide laboratory assistants; allocate and monitor laboratory work; ensure quality and adherence to protocols; record labor and material costing codes; maintain production registers and submit monthly statistics; maintain attendance and leave records; and ensure compliance with Department of Health policies and procedures.
