Requirements: Qualifications and Competencies: A National Senior Certificate/ Grade 12/Matric Certificate plus an appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Assistant. Completion of an accredited Higher Certificate in Dental Assisting (NQF Level 5). Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Dental Assistant. Knowledge And Skills: Understanding tooth numbering systems, oral structures, and dental terminology for clear communication with the clinical teams. Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards [such as CDC and OSHA guidelines], proper personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and Cross – contamination prevention. Understanding patient medical histories, medications, billing codes, and insurance claims processing. Chairside assisting sterilization and instrument management. Diagnostic imaging. Patient data and Records maintenance, Computer literacy, Communication and Patient education, Empathy and Compassion, Organization, Time management, Attention to detail, Teamwork and Adaptability.
Duties: Render Assistance during procedures. Patient comfort care, Sterilise equipment. Render administrative tasks (Front office).
