Western Cape Are you a hands-on Data Engineer passionate about building reliable data pipelines, integrating complex systems, and enabling data-driven decision-making? Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to strengthen its data capabilities and support ongoing business transformation within a dynamic, multi-functional environment. The Role You'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and integrations, ensuring that accurate, reliable and well-governed data is accessible across the business. Working closely with architecture, analytics, IT and business stakeholders, you'll help automate processes, improve data quality and build a trusted foundation for reporting, analytics and AI-enabled solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines. Develop integrations across ERP, finance, CRM, logistics, supply chain and other business systems. Build automated data-quality checks and improve data integrity. Develop and maintain data models and analysis-ready datasets. Design and support REST API and secure file-based integrations. Monitor production pipelines, troubleshoot failures and optimise performance. Contribute to data governance, metadata management and master data management. Support systems implementations, data migrations and business transformation initiatives. Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and data quality within established governance controls. What We're Looking For A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Software Engineering or a related field. Approximately 5-7 years' relevant experience in data engineering, database development or systems integration. Strong SQL and relational database skills. Proven experience developing data solutions using Python. Practical experience with ETL/ELT, data modelling and data warehousing. Experience building and supporting REST API integrations and secure file transfers. Familiarity with Git, deployment practices, monitoring and production support. Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder collaboration skills. Advantageous Experience Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Foundry, cloud data platforms, event-driven integrations, middleware solutions, master data management and AI-enabled data capabilities would be beneficial.
