Role Description The Credit Recovery Officer is responsible for managing and recovering outstanding debts while maintaining respectful and professional relationships with customers. This full-time, on-site role is based in Port Harcourt and involves contacting clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings to negotiate payment plans, resolve disputes, and confirm account information. The officer will monitor overdue accounts, analyze credit and repayment histories, prepare recovery reports, and recommend appropriate actions in line with company policies and regulatory requirements. Daily tasks include documenting interactions, updating internal systems, collaborating with finance and customer service teams, and escalating complex cases when necessary. The role requires consistent adherence to ethical standards, confidentiality, and clear communication to support both client satisfaction and revenue protection.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities to negotiate, build trust, and manage sensitive conversations.
• Candidates should possess practical experience in debt collection and credit recovery, including negotiating repayment plans and managing overdue accounts.
• Candidates should possess analytical skills and basic finance knowledge to review account data, assess risks, and recommend appropriate recovery strategies.
• Candidates should possess customer service skills to address inquiries, handle complaints professionally, and maintain a positive client experience during the recovery process.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include attention to detail, strong organizational skills, proficiency in standard office and CRM software, integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information, and the ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
• A diploma or degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field is preferred, along with prior experience in credit control, collections, or a similar role.
