Summary

  • The Credit Officer will be responsible for assessing financing applications, evaluating applicants' creditworthiness and repayment capacity, conducting credit interviews and residential verifications, ensuring KYC compliance, identifying potential fraud risks, and making sound credit recommendations in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess applicants' income, expenses, financial behaviour, employment stability, character, risk profile, and repayment capacity.
  • Conduct structured interviews with applicants and guarantors.
  • Review and verify KYC documents, including NIN, BVN, proof of residence, income documents, and bank statements.
  • Conduct physical residential and environmental verification of applicants and guarantors.
  • Identify red flags, fraud indicators, and credit risks.
  • Prepare credit assessment reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and documentation on the company's loan origination system.
  • Process credit applications within stipulated turnaround times while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2 - 3 years' experience in credit assessment, microfinance, vehicle finance, or a similar lending environment.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, affordability assessment, and KYC requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and risk awareness.
  • Ability to work with daily/weekly targets and meet turnaround-time expectations.

Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate should be analytical, detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable conducting field visits and interacting professionally with customers and guarantors.
  • Experience in fintech, lending, microfinance, or vehicle financing will be an advantage.
