Job Description

Description of roles and responsibilities:

  • Assistinginestablishinga client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  • Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project whereappropriateor applicable, and where necessary involving Senior Management
  • Managing and taking ownership of estimating and cost planning activities to include presenting the Cost Estimates
  • Managing and taking ownership of the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including pre-qualification, enquiry, Bills of Quantities, analysis,selectionand contract preparation are performed effectively
  • Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
  • Ensuring that post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively
  • Providing advice on contractual claims
  • Ensuring that cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
  • Ensuring the production of monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
  • Value engineering, riskmanagementand life cycle costing where applicable
  • Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed
  • Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  • Whereappropriate, leading a cost management team, ensuring that they deliver onall ofthe above accountabilities
  • Ensuring that QA/QC procedures areadhered to at all times
  • Establishing friendly,professionalandappropriate relationshipswith clients, colleagues and other parties involved in the projects and programmes we support.
  • Administering a variety of contractsin accordance withprojectobjectivesand policies.
  • Providingaccurateproject cost monitoring,forecastingand reporting to completion in line with budget.
  • Pro-activelymonitoringand managing cost variance and contractcash flow, andensuring that applications are made correctly andin a timely manner.
  • Collaborating with client and contractor teams to manage the delivery of project deliverables, KPIs, andobjectives, including programme performance, cost control, and value engineering.
  • Managing contract change effectively, ensuring that projectsremainwithin governance and adopt best practice
  • Driving improvements in the accuracy of forecasts and budgets
  • Proactively providing sound commercial knowledge and support to all stakeholders
  • Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed
  • Leading people and commissions as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4-5 years of progressive experience
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying as a minimum
  • BORAQS registration, RICS is an added advantage
  • Proficient in Cost X application
  • Proven experience in handling multiple projects
