Role Description This full-time Computer Vision Engineer role is a hybrid position based in Lagos, with flexibility for some work-from-home days. You will design, build, and optimise machine learning and computer vision models that extract meaningful information from live and recorded sports footage. You’ll own end-to-end pipelines; from data collection and preprocessing through model training, validation, and deployment into production systems.
What You Will Do
- Experimenting with neural network architectures and improve pattern recognition accuracy on sports video
- Building and optimizing algorithms for player and ball tracking, event detection, and pattern recognition, as well as integrating models into production systems that support streaming and data platforms.
- Collaborating with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to define requirements, improve model accuracy and latency, and ensure reliable performance in live environments
- Conduct model evaluation, experimentation, documentation, and continuous improvement of the computer vision pipeline to iterate based on feedback from stakeholders and customers
What We Are Looking For
- Strong foundation in Computer Science and Data Science, including algorithms, data structures, statistics, and machine learning.
- Proficiency in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, with experience in image/video processing, object detection, tracking, and real-time inference.
- Exposure to Robotics or related systems, especially in sensor integration, perception, and control within dynamic environments.
- Hands-on experience with Python or C++, deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), and computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV).
- Experience deploying models to production (e.g., REST APIs, microservices, edge devices) and optimizing performance for latency and scalability.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker), and version control (Git).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and operate in a fast-paced, sports-focused environment.
- Interest in sports and sports analytics, and willingness to occasionally support on-site operations in Lagos stadiums.
