To deliver effective physical education and sports coaching that develops students physical fitness, sporting skills, teamwork, discipline, and overall well-being. To identify and nurture sporting talent while ensuring safe, inclusive, and engaging participation in various sports.
Duties and responsibilities
- Plan and deliver practical physical education lessons and sports training sessions.
- Coach students in netball, hockey, volleyball, handball, rugby, soccer, basketball, swimming, and other relevant sports.
- Teach and demonstrate appropriate sports skills, techniques, rules, tactics, and strategies.
- Assess students’ performance, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous improvement.
- Identify and develop talented students and prepare teams and individuals for competitions.
- Organise and coordinate sports events, competitions, tournaments, and other physical activities.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, inclusion, and healthy lifestyles among students.
- Ensure proper use, safety, and maintenance of sports facilities and equipment.
- Apply first-aid, CPR, injury-prevention, and emergency procedures during sports activities.
- Maintain records of training, student performance, attendance, competitions, and sports-related incidents.
qualification and experience
- A minimum of a Diploma in Sports Science/ Physical Education, Bachelor's degree will be an added advantage.
- Relevant playing/coaching experience in netball, hockey, Volleyball, handball, Rugby, soccer, Basketball, swimming.
- Knowledge of netball, hockey, Volleyball, handball, Rugby, soccer, Basketball, swimming. rules, techniques, tactics, and officiating.
- Teaching/pedagogical skills. The coach should have ability to plan practical lessons, demonstrate skills, assess students, and give constructive feedback.
- First-aid/CPR certification and knowledge of sports safety and injury prevention.
- Where applicable, registration or accreditation with the relevant national sports/coaching body or federation
