Role Description

The Civil Engineering CAD Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Mombasa County, Kenya. The technician will prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and plans using CAD software for roads, drainage, site layouts, and other infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include producing and updating design drawings from engineer mark-ups, supporting quantity take-offs, and maintaining organized drawing files and documentation. The role also involves coordinating with engineers and other project team members to ensure design accuracy, adherence to standards and regulations, and timely delivery of drawing packages. The technician shall assist with basic design revisions, field data interpretation, and integration of survey information into project models.

MUST be competent

• in AUTOCAD and other drafting tools for civil engineering (e.g., revit, protastructure, Civil 3D or equivalent).
• Understanding of civil engineering design principles for roads, drainage, utilities, and site development.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, and technical specifications accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, quality-focused approach, and effective time management skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
• At least 5 years experience in construction or consulting environments is an advantage, especially within African or similar contexts.
• Familiarity with relevant local and international codes, standards, and best practices for civil infrastructure is beneficial.
