Job Requirement

• A Bachelor's degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, Valuation, Commerce, Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
• Served in the grade of Rates Officer I or in an equivalent and relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
• Knowledge of the National Rating Act, 2024, the Nairobi City County Revenue Administration Act, 2021 and the Public Finance Management Act, 2012.
• Proficiency in computer applications and revenue management systems.
• Integrity and commitment to produce results, with ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Job Description

The Chief Rates Officer will be responsible for the following functions: -

• Coordinating land rates collection in the assigned Sub-Counties.
• Supervising Rates Officers and Rates Assistants in the assigned Sub-Counties.
• Issuing rates demand notices and following up on defaulters.
• Updating rateable property records in the revenue system.
• Preparing land rates collection reports for the assigned Sub-Counties.
• Any other duties as may be allocated by the supervisor.
