Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Education/Chemistry, or a related field, with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) where applicable as an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary school level.
  • Experience teaching Chemistry within a Cambridge Associate School is an added advantage.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging theoretical and practical Chemistry lessons.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer and digital literacy skills.
  • A strong commitment to student growth, academic excellence and the school's values.

Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of lesson notes, plans and schemes of work. Actively support or lead science clubs (e.g., JETS Club) and coordinate student participation in local or national science quizzes, debates, and exhibitions. Maintain accurate online/offline academic and attendance records for students, provide constructive feedback during PTA meetings and Parent open days, and offer remedial help to diverse learners. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching, learning, and the overall student experience. Incorporate real-world engineering and technology concepts into chemistry lessons to show students the practical applications of topics. Qualifications & Experience Education: B.Sc.Ed / B.Ed in Chemistry, OR a B.Sc. / B.Eng in Pure/Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Certification: Registration with the TRCN is a strong advantage. Experience: Minimum of 4 years of active SSS classroom teaching with a proven track record of excellent WAEC/NECO results. Added Advantages: Being an active WAEC/NECO examiner or having experience teaching the British Curriculum. Core Competencies Deep mastery of SSS Chemistry topics (Stoichiometry, Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry, and Organic Chemistry). Exceptional laboratory safety control skills. Exceptional English communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital interactive smartboards or projectors for visual representations of physics concepts.
