  • This position requires practical industry experience and hands-on laboratory skills, with a strong understanding of waste oil treatment, base oil production, and lubricant blending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support waste oil treatment and base oil production processes, including dehydration, vacuum distillation, bleaching, and filtration.
  • Assess incoming waste oil and raw materials to determine their suitability for processing.
  • Monitor process parameters and recommend adjustments to improve product quality, production yield, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and improve lubricant blends according to approved formulations, including base oil selection, additive selection, and dosage calculations.
  • Sample and test raw materials, in-process oils, base oils, and finished lubricants.
  • Perform relevant laboratory tests, including viscosity at 40°C and 100°C, viscosity index calculations, density, flash point, pour point, water content, total acid number, and colour.
  • Interpret laboratory results, compare them with approved specifications, and recommend corrective actions for non-conforming products.
  • Investigate production problems, quality deviations, and inconsistent test results in coordination with production and maintenance teams.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, perform routine calibration checks, and maintain accurate testing and maintenance records.
  • Prepare laboratory reports, batch records, production reports, and certificates of analysis for review and approval.
  • Maintain sample traceability and monitor laboratory chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
  • Develop and follow standard operating procedures and support the training of production personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety, chemical handling, environmental, and quality procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in waste oil recycling, base oil production, lubricant manufacturing, or petroleum product testing.
  • Demonstrable practical experience in waste oil-to-base oil processing and/or base oil-to-lubricant production.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory skills, including the ability to operate relevant testing equipment and interpret results independently.
  • Knowledge of lubricant formulations, additives, oil treatment processes, and product quality specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant ASTM or other approved laboratory test methods.
  • Ability to identify process and quality problems and recommend practical corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accurate technical reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, accountability, and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with production operators, laboratory personnel, and maintenance teams.

Note: CVs should clearly describe relevant industry experience, production processes and equipment used, laboratory instruments operated, and tests the applicant can perform independently.
